Other Computer Equipment

In most cases, you will not need to add or change any computer equipment other than the DSL modem, unless you have an older PC that does not come with an Ethernet network interface card. Most new computers include an Ethernet network card. If you have an older computer, a card can be purchased to enable the Ethernet capability on your computer. You can purchase one at any computer store.

Note: We do not install Ethernet network cards during the installation process; you must have a 10Base-T or better Ethernet network card installed and working prior to self-installation.

IP Addressing

For your business network, you can have:

A single public IP address that identifies your business, with multiple private addresses (addresses not available outside of your business, NAT)
A unique Internet address for every computer on your network
